Staying safe

Stop if:

• You are asked for a deposit or “reservation fee” before you have seen the place;
• The price is far below similar homes in the same khoroo;
• The “owner is abroad and will post the keys”;
• You are rushed — “someone else is waiting, transfer today”;
• You are pushed to move the conversation off Hausi to a messenger;
• You are sent to an outside link for a “credit check” or “agent fee”;
• The photos appear on another site or Facebook at a different price.

Check:

• The original property certificate, and that the owner’s name matches their ID;
• A state registry statement — pledges, seizures and co-owners (via e-mongolia.mn);
• A notarised power of attorney if someone acts for the owner;
• For an agent, the verified-agency badge on Hausi and their licence;
• Have a sale contract notarised and the transfer entered in the state registry.

Pay only after signing, by bank transfer, to an account in the owner’s name, with the contract number in the payment reference. Avoid cash and third-party accounts.

Hausi never takes money between users and has no “Hausi escrow account”. Anyone offering one is a scammer.

We review new users’ listings before they go live and automatically catch copied photos, implausible prices and duplicates. Suspicious messages carry a warning.

When a listing is removed for fraud, everyone who contacted it is warned. A “Verified” badge confirms who a person is — it does not certify title to a property.

Straight away:

• Call your bank to stop or recall the transfer;
• Report it to the police (102);
• Press “Report” on the listing or message, and keep your evidence;
• Contact us at legal@hausi.mn if needed — we provide records to the police on their request.
